Complete genome sequence of the BTEX-degrading bacterium Pseudoxanthomonas spadix BD-a59.
Pseudoxanthomonas spadix BD-a59, able to metabolize all six BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and o-, m-, and p-xylene) compounds, was isolated from gasoline-contaminated sediment. Here, we report the complete 3.45-Mb genome sequence and annotation of strain BD-a59. These advance the understanding of strain BD-a59's genomic properties and pollutant metabolic versatility.

A bacterium designated strain BD-a59, able to degrade all six benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and o-, m-, and p-xylene (BTEX) compounds, was isolated by plating gasoline-contaminated sediment from a gasoline station in Geoje, Republic of Korea, without enrichment, on minimal salts basal (MSB) agar containing 0.01% yeast extract, with BTEX as the sole carbon and energy source. Taxonomic analyses...
متن کاملComplete Genome Sequence of Pseudoxanthomonas suwonensis Strain J1, a Cellulose-Degrading Bacterium Isolated from Leaf- and Wood-Enriched Soil
We report here the complete genome sequence of the cellulose-degrading bacterium Pseudoxanthomonas suwonensis strain J1, isolated from soil enriched with rotten leaves and wood from the Zhong Mountain Scenic Area in Nanjing, China. This complete genome may contribute to further investigation of plant biomass degradation.
متن کاملThe Complete Genome Sequence of the Nicotine-Degrading Bacterium Shinella sp. HZN7
Nicotine is a natural alkaloid that is very toxic to humans. To eliminate the harmful effects of nicotine in the environment, biological methods employing microbes to degrade nicotine are required (Brandsch, 2006; Liu et al., 2015). Shinella sp. HZN7 can degrade nicotine efficiently via the variant of a pyridine and pyrrolidine pathways (VPP; Ma et al., 2013; Qiu et al., 2014, 2015). The main i...
متن کاملComplete genome sequence of the pyrene-degrading bacterium Cycloclasticus sp. strain P1.
Cycloclasticus sp. strain P1 was isolated from deep-sea sediments of the Pacific Ocean and characterized as a unique bacterium in the degradation of pyrene, a four-ring polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH). Here we report the complete genome of P1 and genes associated with PAH degradation.
